Paul Edmund-Davies established his international reputation as flautist and soloist in the twenty years that he was Principal Flute of the London Symphony Orchestra. Conductors with whom he has performed concerti include Leonard Bernstein, Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez and Kent Nagano and André Previn.
For the last ten years he has toured extensively, giving recitals, classes and performing concerti in America, Europe, Canada, Australia, asia, the Middle East and the Far East.
He has also edited several books of music entitled The Flautist's Collection. In June 2007 his latest book, ‘The 28 Day Warm up Book for Flautists…eventually!’ was published. This 150 page volume with four sections on Sonority, Fingers, Articulation and Intervals is entirely original and in a logical and musical way helps to address and solve numerous playing related issues.
As of September 22, 2005, he took up the position of Principal Flute with the Philharmonia Orchestra in the U.K.

The 28 Day Warm Up Book by Edmund-Davies
Written by flautist Paul Edmund-Davies 'for all flautists ... eventually!' this book covers four key areas of study: Sonority, Fingers, Articulation, and Intervals. It tackles these issues in a logical, musical, and interesting way, and can be used to 'tone' everything up or as part of a dedicated regime. Musicians who follow this four-week course from start to finish will notice a very positive improvement in their overall ability, agility, accuracy, security and control.

McPhail Memorial Baptist Church, 249 Bronson Ave.
Again, this is a fun flutin' opportunity for any member
of the OFA to play any piece(s) of their choosing to an appreciative audience
in a relaxed atmosphere. The following week after this concert is when many
flutists are competing in the Kiwanis Festival so this is the perfect opportunity
to practice your pieces in front of an audience beforehand!
It doesn't matter the experience, the age, the ability...all
are welcome to play....and all are welcome to come out as a supportive audience
(and the audience does not just have to be OFA members). If you are interested
in playing in this upcoming concert, contact Melanie Culina at 792 1129
or email me at culina_m@hotmail.com Please indicate the following: Your
first and last name, the piece your are playing and the composer, as well
as your accompanist (if you choose your own) or any combination of instruments
you are playing with.
The OFA accompanist is Amelie Langlois. There is no cost
to members if she performs with you at the concert. If you would like to
rehearse with her seperately, she will charge her usual rate, which you
will discuss with her when you choose rehearsal times. Her email is amelielanglois@gmail.com and
her phone number is: 820-8138. Even if you decide not to rehearse ahead
of time with her, but would like her to accompany you at the concert, please
send on the music she is to play. Amelie is very busy with Kiwanis, so it
is imperative to contact her as soon as possible. As well, if there are
those interested in performing flute as part of an ensemble with other instruments,
by all means, bring it on! Variety adds interest to the programme!
Hope to hear from many of you soon! I'm looking foward to another fun Parlour
Concert!
