The mastercalss will be followed by a short recital.

Workshop for younger students

A mix of easy technique and warm ups, easy jazz, fun stuff and wit. Attendants are encouraged to bring their flute for some group playing. Questions and answers will complete the day.

Flute exhibit

Powell flutes, piccolos and headjoints will be on display both days one hour before and after the activities.

Paul Edmund-Davies established his international reputation as flautist and soloist in the twenty years that he was Principal Flute of the London Symphony Orchestra. Conductors with whom he has performed concerti include Leonard Bernstein, Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez and Kent Nagano and André Previn.

For the last ten years he has toured extensively, giving recitals, classes and performing concerti in America, Europe, Canada, Australia, asia, the Middle East and the Far East.

He has also edited several books of music entitled The Flautist's Collection. In June 2007 his latest book, ‘The 28 Day Warm up Book for Flautists…eventually!’ was published. This 150 page volume with four sections on Sonority, Fingers, Articulation and Intervals is entirely original and in a logical and musical way helps to address and solve numerous playing related issues.

As of September 22, 2005, he took up the position of Principal Flute with the Philharmonia Orchestra in the U.K.

Deadline for applications: September 15, 2008.  Please provide name and contact information of your flute teacher with your application, as well as the title of the piece you are planning to perform.  Accompanied pieces will have to be played with accompanist. Payment of accompanist is the responsibility of the performer.
