Lise Daoust |
Lise Daoust began her training in flute at the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec
in Montréal. She pursued her studies in Paris for five years with
the pre-eminent Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion and Christian Lardé.
Her performances of contemporary works, especially of Canadian composers,
have drawn public attention and many invitations to perform as soloist with
Canadian and international contemporary music ensembles. She has been invited
to participate in a number of specialized festivals in Canada, Europe and
South America. She was awarded the 1988 Flandre-Québec Prize for
her outstanding performance of today's music. In November, 1989, she first
worked with Kathinka Pasveer and Karlheinz Stockhausen upon his invitation.
Her passion for Stockhausen's flute music has led her to undertake significant
research into the concept of "dramatized" or "spatial"
composition. Lise is principal flutist with the Société de
musique contemporaine du Québec as well as being Associate Professor
and Associate Dean of Performance at the Université de Montréal's
Faculty of Music. She has made several recordings for the ATMA, CBC and
Naxos labels. |
